Sports Taping & Bracing

Support, Stability & Injury Recovery

Sports taping and bracing provide targeted support for both acute and chronic injuries. These tools can enhance recovery, reduce pain, improve stability, and even support posture. When used alongside physical therapy, they play a vital role in injury management and prevention.

Sports and Rigid Taping

We use both rigid and kinesio (sports) taping as part of our treatment plans. Taping can off-load injured tissues, reduce strain, and protect the affected area while healing.

  • Sports taping helps manage injuries such as hamstring tears, rotator cuff strains, lower back spasms, knee pain, and rib strains.

  • Rigid taping is often applied for ligament-related injuries, including ankle sprains and collateral ligament injuries of the knee or elbow. This method supports the joint and limits painful ranges of movement.

Corrective and Technical Bracing

Our patients also benefit from corrective bracing, prescribed as an adjunct to exercise and physical therapy. Technical bracing may be recommended for acute and chronic knee injuries, tennis elbow, lower back pain, or postural weakness.

We also prescribe PostureFit supports, which can be fitted by our reception team without requiring an appointment with our osteopaths. These devices encourage proper alignment, reduce strain, and provide long-term postural support.

Restoring Function and Stability

Taping and bracing not only support injured tissues but also provide positive bio-feedback. This helps restore function, activate the correct muscles, and improve movement patterns. For example, postural bracing assists with muscle engagement, while ankle bracing enhances proprioception (positional awareness) to improve balance and stability.
